Health Surveillance
COPE supports customers in complying with their legal obligation by undertaking
health surveillance of their employees’ exposure to hazards such as hand/arm vibration and noise.
Health Surveillance aims to
- Detect adverse health effects at an early stage
- Prevent disabling illness/disease
- Assist in the evaluation of control measures and
- Protect the health of your employees
COPE undertakes a variety of health surveillance assessments either on or off-site to suit
your business risk needs. These most commonly include:
Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) assessments – under
The Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005, the HSE recommends that all
doctors and occupational health nurses conducting health surveillance for HAVS have completed
a 2.5 day course approved by the Faculty of Occupational Medicine. All COPE staff conducting
HVS surveillance have successfully completed this course.
Audiometry - according to
The Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005, over 1 million
employees in Great Britain are exposed to levels of noise which put their hearing at risk. Like many
occupational diseases, prevention is the key. At COPE we provide on or offsite audiometry testing
for your employees, and where appropriate hearing conservation advice and all reporting to management,
employees and GP’s.
Skin surveillance - under
